Specs and Pets

Ok, with the new patch and my extended absence I find myself a little bit adrift in terms of builds/pets and general game play.

So if I could I like to get a discussion going on those topics and anything else you guys think I should know.

What builds did you all go for?

What new pets have you nabbed?

What has changed for us in general?

Spec, tried survival and saw alot of crits with some huge numbers, expolsive shot was nice, but shares the same cooldown as arcane shot so its one or the other and i didnt like that. Same for Aim shot, shares cooldown with Multi shot. Aim shot is instant now so made pvping alot easier and fun. I did some pvp and when my pet died, i didn't even bother rezing him. i didn't use him or need him and still onwed ppl. On the dummies in IF, i was hittin around 1200 dps.

BM, is every thing it used to be and more. now beastial wrath has a shorter cooldown with some talnet points, and the exotic pets are nice. some cool specials and more dps. For raid and p5s BM is awesome dmg, for pvp ppl see my big dinosaur and kill him in 3 or 4 hits.... some time i think having exotic pets are a bad thing. i dont have any points in pets health or armor. this might be a mistake if you're going to pvp alot. Pet talents are sweet and some pets are better at tanking like bears. they have talents that help hold aggro, others are meant for dps with alot of special abilties like rabid, which increas pets attack power. On the dummies in IF i was peaking at 1500 dps.

I decided to stay BeastMastery. Currently full 61/0/0 in order to try out the exotic pets, but I do miss go-for-the-throat.

So far I've tamed the semi-stealthed cat that spawns from the cat figurines in ashenvale, a grey with blue-eyes devilsaur, and a mistvale gorilla from STV.

I haven't tried a bear yet for tanking, but the gorilla is so far doing an awesome job. It certainly made solo'ing stratholme a piece of cake. My next goal is to get either the bear or the gorilla to 70 and see how well it can main-tank an outlands p5.

Some of the nice changes are that traps are down to a 1-sec activation time (from 2 sec), steady shot no longer interrupts autoshot, and misdirect is now only a 30 sec cooldown (down from 2 min). So you can pretty much MD every pull now. The new pet talent system is also a nice change from the old system.

The biggest change from old school BM to the new one is kill command, it's no longer an instant damage attack we spam every time it's up, but now a pet damage buff (and a kinda weak one imo), and the spell is on a 1 min cooldown.
