Seeing as how I picked the most AWESOME time to come back to the game I've now got an expansion that's about to land in my lap in less than 10 days.
My question is this, dose anyone know a fairly reliable (and preferably legit) way to acquire a collectors version of the expansion that doesn't require stupid amounts of cash (ex. eBay) or the use of knee pads? Had I not decided to leave the game I'd have more than likely placed a pre-order while such an option was a viable path, at the moment everyone I've spoken to (I'm talking about retailers) have relayed in a more eloquent manner that I'm more or less fucked in this respect. Keep in mind that I'm Canadian and not all places will ship up here, thank you customs. I know this probably won't happen, but I'd even buy one off of one of you guys if you were able to acquire a second copy. I'm open for suggestions.

Why the CE? Is there just one piece of the collector's edition you are after? You can probably pick up parts of it after the fact from people who only wanted a different part. Unless its the in-game stuff.

That's true. The only real "perk" to getting the CE will be the frost whelp pet. I think the only chance you'll have to pick one up at this point is to be first in line at a retailer and hope that they got more CE's in than pre-orders. I for one will pass on that idea... =)

If this xpack is the same as the last one I would try hitting a wallmart at 7-8 in the morning.
There was a crap ton (100's in stock) of CE at the local wallmart when I picked up TBC.

If you're dead set on having a CE, paying 10$ more than retail is worth it - imo. Save yourself a line up at least :)

how often do you guys who bought CEs really use the panda or mini diablo or wyrmling pets anyway?
I guess they are good for achievements, if that's what you're after.

The CE looks nice on shelves is pretty much all mine does.
It's a collectors edition. It's like buying a collectors edition of anything. |

A statement that only makes sense to someone who would buy it anyway :)

Fallout 3 has the collector's edition that beats all other collector editions. A Vault-Tec metal lunchbox and a bobble-head doll ;)

The reasoning is that I'm a collector of sorts ... yea video games are a horrible thing to collect, and I like getting special editions when I'm able to.
I got onto the WoW bandwagon too late to get an original collectors edition by about two years, but I have one for TBC. I still have to activate it because I bought it after i got a regular expansion ... I have no idea from where though. Plus I really like pets, to the point that I've been trying to get all the rare pets I can. Hell i farmed all three whelpling pets and still need to activate my netherwhelp pet.
