What are Librams

As most of you know, enchanting provides a means to enhance various pieces of your equipment. However there are some pieces that cannot be enchanted including belts, helms, pants, and shoulders. For a list of all enchants check this page here.

Within the game there are still ways to enhance helm, legs, and shoulders. you can purchase supplements to your shoulders from two factions currently. Argent Dawn provides a +5 to 1 resist at revered, and a +5 to all resists at exalted. There are also 3 shoulder enhancements you can purchase when you are exalted with the Zandalar Tribe (+30 attack power or +33 healing or +18 to all spells).

Head and leg gear can be modified with arcanums. An arcanum is created with the help of a Libram and various other objects. There are currently 8 libram's in game. Three librams appear to only drop in Dire Maul (focus, protection, and rapidity). The other five librams (constituion, resilience, rumination, tenacity, and voracity) are global random drops. To create an arcanum you collect various items including a libram and hand them into an NPC as a quest.

Currently in game there are Lesser Arcanums and Arcanums. Lesser Arcanums affect one stat and were the first arcanums in game. Lesser Arcanums are created by Mathredis Firestar in Burning Steppes.

Lesser Arcanum of Constitution - Permanently adds 100 hit points to a leg or head slot item. Requires Black Diamond, Lung Juice Cocktail, Night Dragon’s Breath, Libram of Constitution.
Lesser Arcanum of Resilience - Permanently adds 20 fire resistance to a leg or head slot item. Requires Black Diamond, 4 Crystal Spires, Burning Essence, Libram of Resilience.
Lesser Arcanum of Rumination - Permanently adds 150 mana to a leg or head slot item. Requires Black Diamond, Black Blood of the Tormented, Gizzard Gum, Libram of Rumination.
Lesser Arcanum of Tenacity - Permanently adds 125 armor to a leg or head slot item. Requires Black Diamond, 4 Crystal Wards, Eye of Kajal, Libram of Tenacity.
Lesser Arcanum of Voracity - Permanently adds 8 of any stat to a leg or head slot item. Requires Black Diamond, 4 Whipper Root Tubers, 4 Crystal Force, Libram.

If you notice, all the lesser arcanums require librams that are world drops. the other items are obtained all over the place. In addition, each Lesser Arcanum requires 30 gold.

Black Blood of the Tormented - Found in the secret coffer in BRD
Black Diamond - Random drop in BRD
Bruning Essence - Found in the secret coffer in BRD
Crystal Force - Created in Ungoro Crater
Crystal Spire - Created in Ungoro Crater
Crystal Ward - Created in Ungoro Crater

Gizzard Gum - Quest reward in Blasted Lands
Lung Juice Cocktail - Quest reward in Blasted Lands

There are currently three Arcanum's in game as well. Lorekeeper Lydros in the library of Dire Maul will be the NPC who helps you create Arcanums.

Arcanum of Focus - Permanently adds +8 to your Healing and Damage from spells to a leg or head slot item. Requires Pristine Black Diamond, 4 Large Brilliant Shards, 2 Skin of Shadows, Libram of Focus.
Arcanum of Protection - Permanently adds 1% dodge to a leg or head slot item. Requires Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, 1 Frayed Abomination Stitching, Libram of Protection.
Arcanum of Rapidity - Permanently adds 1% haste to a leg or head slot item. Requires Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, 2 Blood of Heros, Libram of Rapidity.

The three Librams all drop in Dire Maul. Once again the other items are pretty scattered.

Blood of Heros - Random spawn in Plaguelands
Frayed Abomination Stitching - Drops off Abominations in Stratholme.
Pristine Black Diamond - Global random drop.
Large Brilliant Shard - Enchanting skill.
Skin of Shadow - Only one per instance of Scholomance.

Personal recomendations - Lesser Arcanum are mostly useless now with the introduction of Zul'Gurub head/leggings enchants. The only one worth pursuing is the lesser Arcanum of Resistance to increase your fire resists in places like Blackwing's Lair, Molten Core, and Onyxia's Lair.

The Arcanum's are used in Zul'Gurub enchants, and should be created with those in mind.

Agi or str is the only one I've ever seen used though ;), the rest are useless.

As a curiosity - does this type of stuff, or Stil's post on rogues help peopel out, or just a waste of time? IE do you guys want to see more of this stuff, and if so is it too much info, not enough, etc.

I took me a couple of hours to find all this info myself last week, so I'm sure it'll help someone.

Well, the theory is more in lines of a CMS. On yet another side note, besides gold farming, any other topic ideas that may be of use for people?

And, Lo! there was my answer!

I just got a Black Blood of the Tormented, and Lunariel has a Libram of Rumination he was gonna let me have. My question is, is it even worth making this enchantment or can the lesser arcanum be better used for ZG enchants?

Ok, answered my own question by reading your post on ZG enchantments. It's only the greater arcanums, so I may as well make the lesser till I get around to getting the ZG ones.

Hoodoo Hex

Is it possible to have 1 Hoodoo on my pants and 1 Hoodoo on my helm?

It says it doesn't stack, but it sounds like I can have one on each just not two on one piece.

Yes you can. Just like you can put a FR libram on two pieces.
