Going Forward

So, as I've been reminded recently, we have 6 weeks till WOTLK.

I'm picturing a lot of killing time for 6 weeks, then a mad rush to 80; but what then?

We are going to have 10 man and 25 man content at level 80. The officers and I are already starting discussion about the future.

I'm expecting groups of 10 mans to form based on existing friendships and availability. There's nothing wrong with this at all. Hopefully by the time 2 or 3 10 man groups get enough experience we can move smoothly into 25 man content by melding a couple of groups and adding in needed characters.

10 levels of leveling and P5ing should give us enough time to assess the roles of each character class as blizzard intends them to be played.

I WOULD suggest that if you plan on raiding, try to take a bit of a long view and open up some discussion on who's going to play what. Some people are flexible, others not so much. Dad I suspect will always be a healer, Sudac a mage, Hidden a rogue.

Post any thoughts you might have, let's get some discussion flowing.

Boomkins are so awesome in WotLk

I'm *probably* going to end up playing a DK in WotLK, though I may still decide to play my warrior (gonna lvl him as an alt after if I play a DK).

As for raiding, I'm noticing a lack of shaman... who exactly is going to be playing a shaman in WotLK (and what spec).

I admit I am not sure what I will do. I hope Blizz will fix a bit warlock talents but somehow it seems too late now. So Darkon might spawn a Death Knight if warlocks really suck... or I might use Xaanu (Enh. Shaman) as new main although I have not tested it yet so no real clue how good/bad they are in WolTK.

Thing is I don't really want to rush the 70 to 80 grind. Nor I did the 60 to 70. But I know it usually mean missing the train for the first p10 raiding. I will catch up with you later I guess ;)

I'll be enhancement as usual. But raiding for me = 10 man. No more p25 for me.

I'm in a relative state of flux...it's quite likely I will stay protection with the pally, getting a feel for it in beta makes me relatively sure of that, however, if I get a good feeling for DK tanking...I'll go that route instead. Either way, I will be tanking with something and dps'ing with something else.

I'm going to level my lock up first with a mix of demo and aff and most likely be affliction after i hit 80. I will have to check EJ for what they may think the dps talent choices are and be that.

After that, i don't know. Pally tank or healer, Priest, Hunter or Mage. As for my DK, he/she will be definitely third.

As I've said to you before, I'm not organizing a 25 man anything, just 10 man =).

I'm currently debating between a ret/holy build or a more traditional holy healer, going deep on the holy tree. I've considered going ret for the xpac, but as I've learned recently - being a healer is somewhat hardwired into my head :) It's a habit that I'm reluctant to break...

im going to be leveling my mage to 80 first, thats definite. I do, and will always consider Chao my "main." Once i whittle down left over solo quests and finish up basic instance quests and gearing, i'll start leveling up Tao as a tank again.

Depending on how big or how fast the inevitable tank drought comes, i'll bring Tao in to play sooner, but i'm going to be focusing on Chao at first.

Still undecided. I enjoy playing my mage more than Byer. It's been that way for a while now and the only reason Alzaz isn't my main is because getting into raids was easier as a healer than being mage number 58884334.

But I'm also very curious about rolling a DK - if for nothing else than the lore in the DK quests.

Unless things change, though, Byer will remain my main and be the one I raid with (unless dps/cc happens to be needed instead).

So what is going to be the direction of the guild for P10 and P25's? Are we going to focus on one or the other? Since there will be linear progression for P10 groups now it might be hard to breakup a good P10 group for P25's especially if they are a couple of instances past the P25 group.

Historically P10's have been organized by anyone who has the motivation to find 10+ people, is the new guild leadership interested in forming "guild sanctioned" p10 where everyone has a chance to sign up and go? (insert Dav spitting out his drink here).

Also for P25's are we going to continue with the volunteer p25 leader until they quit? RIP Drogan, Rage, Mala, Sudac...

I too am curious about this, but only to a point. Since getting used to TBC raid dynamic changes I'm pretty sure things will be the same with WotLK as with TBC.

There will be those really well geared and "elite" players that will have their groups for the 10 mans. They will p0wn them and eventually, down the road, things will open up for the rest to be able to make their own groups. Just like with KZ and ZA. They were very limited to a few 10 to 20 people... but only for the first few months. Eventually everyone gets a shot. :)

I strongly suspect thre will be something along the lines of what Byer said below, 2 or 3 groups working together on P10 content on a more or less permanent basis for the first month or 3 (very similar to how TBC began) if you want to get into those groups, you better level fast and furiosly, they will be more along the cutting edge of content.

The P25 is where I see the whole guild stepping in. Once we get 30 or more solid level 80s we can attempt some 25 man content. By then the 10 mans will start getting a bit more open.

I'm mostly in Ruddy's boat. If i'm going to play a caster, its going to be a boomkin. The amount of utility they have is ridiculous and I have a lvl 70 druid just sitting. The other things I'm willing to play is a Fury or Prot warrior, or possibly a death knight. So for me, its either Boomkin, Warrior, or DK. I have no interest in lvling a class from lvl 1 right now.

My main is whatever I have fun playing, and I STRONGLY suggest you guys COPY your characters to the test realm and play them and decide if the playstyle is fun or not. All the new talents are there. Also, take some money with you, GLYPHS are for sale on the AH buy them up and experiment. I just wish I could have moved all my 70's, they only let you move 4 :(

If anyone would like to do some heroic dungeons on the PTR my warrior is specced prot and we can test new builds.

My character names on PTR:

Priest, Hugz
Mage, Tomm
Warrior, Jesna
Warlock, Chelsey

I'm going to level my Shaman. I'm thinking Enh. to 80, then we'll see what need in terms of either DPS or healing lazors

I will stay with my priest as holy till 80. As bek said die hard healers...it is just what we are meant to do.

If by some MIRACLE I make it to 80 fairly soon then I'll start on my frost mage.(cause I like to live)

Given how bleak the outlook is for new games atm, and how staggeringly bored I am, this is almost starting to looking tempting. Gave my account away tho and I'm not so sure I'd want to start over from level 1 for the 15th time, with an 80 level climb ahead of me, so who knows.

I've heard very little talk of returning ferals, locks, and shamans. Have these classes got the shaft somehow or is it just everyone riding the DK wave?

Ferals are so ridiculously OP in beta atm that Blizzard is saying they have to nerf them. Locks have some issues, don't really know what they are though. Shaman are fine, just nothing really new and exciting (except an aoe knockback for pvp if you're elemental).

Since raiding has already been mentioned in this thread.... I'm putting together a 10 man group. If I haven't talked to you, and you plan on leveling up fairly quickly, let me know what class/spec you're going to be playing if you're interested in raiding. There may be enough for 2 groups early, not sure, but even if not it's good to see what is available.

Guess what?! I'll be a mage.

I'm thinking of going Arcane. Since release I've always wanted to go Arcane.

For those that have been in beta for a while.... am I crazy?! Is it viable? Most importantly, would it be helpful for the guild to have an Arcane mage around?
